ITO Pools are made up of groups of A (IP address) and CNAME (hostname) records. That means when a use queries that pool, they could be answered by one or more endpoints. ITO Pools are integrated with Constellix Sonar monitoring services, and uses response times to determine which endpoints in the pool should answer queries.
“ITO Pools allow you to deliver the best possible experience to your end-users every time,” says President of Constellix Steven Job.
ITO Pools can be used to optimize multi-CDN configurations, hybrid-cloud environments, and disaster recovery. They are as easy to set up as creating a record. Instead of pointing the domain to a single endpoint, users will create lists of endpoints. The endpoints will be served in a round robin configuration unless ITO is enabled, which will serve endpoints based on response times.
ITO Pools can improve page load times, which has been shown to help with search engine visibility. Since ITO Pools operate at the DNS level, there are no extra lookups, and cuts down on network overhead.
ITO Pools can be combined with a variety of other Constellix services, such as GeoDNS services.
